XBGlobal.com – DAILY PICKS FOR TUESDAY AUGUST 9TH, 2022

Colonial Downs  – Race#5

SIMPLY SUPER – This jockey and trainer have a lucrative ROI when they join forces.I have to like this colt’s chances of winning at the shorter trip. The July 4th affair at Churchill Downs was at a class level of (91). Dropping to a lower class rank a significant amount, so he should be in a good position.

Presque Isle Downs – Race #3

Dawgmentality should be tough at second asking with a pace edge on most of these, and I’ll try to get Kotylos in the picture as well with some hope that he can rally late and pass some of those who don’t have a ton of finishing ability.

Pocono Downs – Race #6

Take My Name tracked the pace in third through the final turn, tipped outside of the pocket-puller and edged away as a debut favorite. No reason to think he won’t improve some and repeat. Bet to win and place.

Hoosier Park – Race #11

Country Cutie benefited when three rivals went off stride but she outran her 41-1 odds nonetheless. She awaited room in early stretch and surged through a seam in the 3-path to finish second. Play a 3/ 4,6/ALL trifecta.

Colonial Downs  – Race#5

SIMPLY SUPER – This jockey and trainer have a lucrative ROI when they join forces.I have to like this colt’s chances of winning at the shorter trip. The July 4th affair at Churchill Downs was at a class level of (91). Dropping to a lower class rank a significant amount, so he should be in a good position.GRAND ESCAPE – Have to give this gelding a chance. Ran a sharp outing in the last race within the last 30 days. The addition of Lasix might make this animal wake up right here.HELDISH – Russell rode this thoroughbred for the first time in the last race and comes right back today.Another way to identify class is earnings per race. This thoroughbred has the highest in the group. I think he’ll be close at the finish.

GENERAL J R – Substandard speed figure last out at Laurel at 7 furlongs. Don’t feel this horse will improve too much in today’s race.COFFEEWITHCHRIS – This less than sharp equine has been letting down the bettors as the favorite time and time again.Today’s race is 5 furlongs. Hasn’t finished in the money in a sprint event in the last couple months. Not the greatest of signals.should be difficult for this horse to beat this bunch off of that last speed figure. Not probable to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today’s class figure, so put him on the likely underpriced contenders list.MY MAMBA – Finished fourth last time out. Would have to move up to finish in the money in today’s race. When looking at today’s Equibase class figure, he will have to record a much better rating than last time around the track to be competitive in this dirt sprint.

Presque Isle Downs – Race #3

PICKS NOTES
#7 Dawgmentality He showed some pace before flattening a bit in the debut run, but he can probably step forward off that effort and should get a great trip while prompting any other pace from this outside draw.
#6 Kotylos Think he’s worth some consideration at second asking, as he made a mild move before going one-paced in the debut run, and I think he can build on that effort. Some finishing appeal.
#2 Dontinvademyspace All five of his career running lines have produced pretty even efforts, and he figures capable of getting in the mix again early and hanging around for a piece again late.
Race Summary Dawgmentality should be tough at second asking with a pace edge on most of these, and I’ll try to get Kotylos in the picture as well with some hope that he can rally late and pass some of those who don’t have a ton of finishing ability.

Presque Isle Downs – Race #7

PICKS NOTES
#6 Strike the Top He rallied well with similar last time out, and I’m hoping enough pace shows up here to set things up for him to get past late. Interesting at a mid-range price.
#3 Heirloom Kitten He’s a logical player from tracking range, and he has shown an affinity for the local footing in those three recent starts. First jump might get him home with this group.
#10 Digital Footprint Think he’ll get an okay setup with these, but he has lacked that final finishing gear to get over the top in recent starts. Wouldn’t be a surprise, but I think there will be more attractive risk/reward options.
Race Summary There is enough route pace signed on in here, including from the wide draw, to think there’s a chance someone picks up the forward players late. Strike the Top ran on well from off the pace in that last start, and maybe a bit tougher early battle today allows him to get over the top.

Presque Isle Downs – Race #8

PICKS NOTES
#3 Dun Right He has come forward since adding Lasix a couple starts back, and he should be able to find a good spot right up on the splits while stretching around two turns here. Looks tough.
#6 Huntin’ the Rut Sort of surprised he has had this many starts, as his kind of speed tends to eventually land one, especially because he doesn’t quit hard every time he’s challenged. Maybe good for a thrill.
#7 Mid Atlantic He turned in a better effort when dropping in class last out, and this spot might represent an even better fit for him while he ships north to face the locals for the first time. Some claim on this.
Race Summary Dun Right probably gets bet, but he’s meeting a pretty suspect field, and I think there’s enough pedigree there to get him around two turns.

FRANK CARULLI’S DAILY PICKS

Pocono Downs – Race #6

PICKS NOTES
#5 TAKE MY NAME Well-handled in popular first-out victory, taken to repeat.
#6 WARRAWEE YIMA Overcame early misstep to run third as the fave in his second start.
#1 COOL TRIXTER Debuts for 23-percent barn from the rail off decent qualifier.
Race Summary Take My Name tracked the pace in third through the final turn, tipped outside of the pocket-puller and edged away as a debut favorite. No reason to think he won’t improve some and repeat. Bet to win and place.

Yonkers – Race #3

PICKS NOTES
#3 HP LIS SHADOW Marked improvement until mishap in latest, good value play.
#4 JK STANDINGOVATION Solid numbers at Hoosier, good spot in first start for Team Bongiorno.
#1 AINT HE SPECIAL Lacked usual kick lately, moves outside in.
Race Summary HP Lis Shadow hit his best stride two and three starts back, then broke stride as the favorite last week. He deserves a chance to make amends at a better price. Bet to win and place.

Hoosier Park – Race #11

PICKS NOTES
#3 COUNTRY CUTIE Stayed flat while others didn’t, got up for second at 41-1.
#4 JASMINE Third in 1:55.4 two back, duplicate makes her the one to beat.
#6 SILVER CRAFT Failed at 1-to-5 odds two back, broke stride in follow-up.
Race Summary Country Cutie benefited when three rivals went off stride but she outran her 41-1 odds nonetheless. She awaited room in early stretch and surged through a seam in the 3-path to finish second. Play a 3/ 4,6/ALL trifecta.
