RACE 10: THE ARMED FORCES
7 MAXIMO, who was impressive breaking his maiden
on the Tapeta by 10 ½ lengths, returns to the allweather surface after failing to get untracked on the
main track in the seven-furlong Affirmed Division of the
Fla Sire Stakes. Trainer Juan Alvarado has Edgard
Zayas handling the combo surface switch/stretchout.
1 LIGHTS OF BROADWAY, a $250,000 son of City of
Light, proved he could win at this distance on the
Tapeta when he drew clear to break his maiden two
weeks ago. Trainer Mark Casse has Sonny Leon
handling the inside post. 3 TIGRE showed a new
dimension when trainer Roger Laurin stretched him out
to a mile and 70-yards on the Tapeta and he responded
with a 5 ½-length victory. Jockey Jason Huayas rides
without the apprentice allowance when going for two in
a row.
RACE 1:
4 IMDABESTINTHEWORLD is a son of Exaggerator
debuting for trainer Mike Yates with a series of useful
works showing over the main track. The barn, 21% with
first-time starters, has Ismerio Villalobos named to ride.
7 SMART N SHARP is a gelded son of Sharp Azteca,
and a half-brother to local runner R Admiral, debuting
for trainer Ron Spatz with a couple of solid half-mile
workouts showing on the Tapeta. Edgar Perez rides.
6 PARADISE DRIVE is a son of Accelerate debuting
for trainer Matt Williams with four stamina enhancing
half-mile workouts showing on the all-weather surface.

3 STAR JUANCHO is stretching out to 6 ½ furlongs
after responding in the first race after the claim by Efren
Loza Jr with a second-place finish vs $16,000 starter

Star Juancho at the $8,000 level two starts back, drops
after stepping up off the claim by Jerick Llopiz and
finishing a distant second behind hard-knocking
Septemberten in an open $12,500 claimers going

2 SIR AGGRAVATOR is stepping up, and turning
back, after returning from the freshening for Joe
Orseno and using his speed to defeat $6,250 claimers
going seven panels. Edgar Perez goes for two in a row

9 TESTED POSITIVE is dropping to the $12,500 level
after following the second-place finish in her $16,000
debut with an ambitious outing vs state-bred special
weight competition last out. Leading jock Miguel

cutting back to 5 ½ furlongs after responding to the
dropdown to this level with a distant second-place
finish going six furlongs last out. Jose Morelos rides for
Saul Matos. 1 KRAZYKATKOUSIN is dropping a
notch in the first start since chasing the pace and fading
behind Tested Positive during August. Mike Yates has

3 DESERT RULER moves to the Jorge Delgado barn
via the claim after dueling throughout and finishing third
– beaten a length – vs similar at the distance. The barn,
31% with new claims, has Miguel Vazquez named to
ride. 2 FULTON STREET has had a pair of interesting
performances since moving to the main track from the
Tapeta. He dumped the rider two starts back, and
followed that with an open-length victory over a pair of
next-out winners in a $6,250 conditioned claimer going
this one-mile distance. The Rory Miller trainee gets the
acid test today. 5 RUSSIAN TO WIN is plunging to the
$12,500 level after stepping up off the $20,000 claim
by Laura Cazares with a stalk-and-fade outing vs
$35,000 starter optional claimers last out. Leonel
Reyes handles the class relief.

8 PEARLESCENT is making her first start since
dueling throughout and finishing second – beaten a
half-length – vs $20,000 starter optional claimers going
a mile and 70-yards on the Tapeta last December.

Factor training forwardly for the return.
4 JOURNEYTOTHEMOON proved she could compete
with this caliber of competition when she followed her
$12,500 score at the distance two starts back with a
second-place finish vs $25,000 optional claimers last
out. Trainer Ron Spatz has Edgard Zayas returning on
the daughter of Tourist. 9 RASPBERRY BALLET is
stepping up, and stretching out around two turns on the
Tapeta, after back-to-back victories vs cheaper going
a one-turn mile on the dirt. Claudio Gonzalez, 22% with
his Tapeta runners, has go-to jock Jose Morelos in the
irons.

5 LURE HIM IN, who won the $100,000 Sunshine Turf
on the Tapeta here during the Championship Meet,
returns after ending his campaign on the West Coast
with a second-place finish vs $80,000 allowance
optional claimers going a mile on the Del Mar turf.
Trainer Bob Hess Jr has Miguel Vazquez handling the
local return. 6 CALIBRATOR, who runs well fresh, will
try to flaunt his speed in the first start since setting the
pace and finishing second in a $55,000 overnight
handicap going a mile and 70-yards on the Tapeta in July. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr, 23% with the 61-180
days layoff, readied him for this assignment with a
bullet half-mile workout in 46 & 1, the best time of 62
workers at the distance. 7 SOLE VOLANTE is
debuting on the Tapeta after facing graded stakes
quality competition on the turf both here and at
Keeneland with limited results. Trainer Patrick
Biancone has Romero Maragh atop the multiple
stake’s winner on the dirt.

1 LEGACY ISLE is a $210,000 son of Shackleford
debuting for trainer Rohan Crichton with a series of
sharp workouts showing on the main track. Emisael

4 POETIC CODE, who has turned finishing second or

performance in a while when beaten a half-length last
