XBGLOBAL DAILY PICKS FOR MONDAY AUGUST 8TH, 2022
Presque Isle Downs – Race #4
PICKS | NOTES |
---|---|
#5 I Love Magel | The new footing is a question for her, but she really started to put things together when she got into these lower levels after leaving Gulfstream. Think she’s a good fit here, and she should get a perfect, first-over trip. |
#10 Belle’s Kingdom | She’ll need a better rally than she showed last out, but she owns a few back efforts that would keep her in the frame with these. Interesting for the gimmicks. |
#11 Down to Earth | She’s really logical here after landing runner-up spots in her last four tries with similar company, but she has to deal with a wide draw and isn’t exactly known for her instincts on getting her nose down at the wire. |
Race Summary | I Love Magel is quick enough to be right up on the splits here, but she has also proven effective from a bit further off it, so her rider will have a couple options out of the gate. Think she’s the one if she likes it here. |
Presque Isle Downs – Race #5
PICKS | NOTES |
---|---|
#5 Maeve the Brave | She chased and folded up in the lane on the grass in her debut at Monmouth, but she should be able to land a decent trip within striking range, and I wouldn’t be shocked if she stuck around better today. |
#1 Wild Irish | She’s a pretty consistent type over the local surface, but she’s a 6-year-old who probably doesn’t have any real upside at this point, and she might end up settling for another piece. |
#6 She’s Rednecker | Thought she was going to be a handful in that last one, but she caught a tough winner in that spot. She should get another good trip here and may have some room to come forward after just two starts. |
Race Summary | Maeve the Brave looks like a pretty good fit in here, and she should be able to find a decent spot in the early going while bringing some second-out upside. |
Presque Isle Downs – Race #7
PICKS | NOTES |
---|---|
#1 Chasing Fireflies | She has been impressive through two starts so far, and she’ll get a try in deeper waters here while drawing the fence. She has shown some pace in her first two races, but I’m hoping she’s willing to tuck in behind some sharper pace here. |
#7 Majestic d’Oro | Wouldn’t be surprised to see her win right back, as she comes off a stakes win and was pretty sharp over synthetic at Turfway earlier this year. Love how versatile she is as far as running style. |
#4 You Look Cold | She moves into open company today, but she caught a pretty impressive Pennsylvania-bred filly in that last one, and her best stuff might keep her in the picture. |
Race Summary | Chasing Fireflies showed the debut wasn’t a fluke when posting an easy allowance win at Ellis last out, and the race flow might stack up nicely outside of her to see if she can work out a pocket trip today. |
